Lance McCullers Jr. has big plans to further help Houston animals

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- World Series champion Lance McCullers Jr. is once again helping pets displaced by Hurricane Harvey.

McCullers' foundation has taken part in sending over 150 dogs from Houston to California for adoption. He told ABC13 he has more long-term plans to help Houston's animal population.

"We actually have a project coming up where we're trying to raise a substantial amount of money to get a mobile spay and neuter bus. Because spay and neutering is really the underlying issue that we need to fix to help overpopulation," said McCullers.

The foundation is planning to send another group of dogs to California in about two weeks.

McCullers is a known animal advocate. The night before a fundraiser he helped a lost dog find her home.
