The McCullers Family
Meet the Founders
Baseball came as second nature to Lance McCullers Jr. His father, Lance McCullers Sr., played in the MLB for several years, so it was no surprise that a simple game of catch with his dad would evolve to an amazing pitching career for Lance.
Born in Tampa, FL in 1993, Lance took the baseball world by storm. He was named the Gatorade National Baseball Player of the year in 2012, and was selected 41st overall in the 2012 MLB Draft by the Houston Astros. Now one of the starting pitchers for the Astros, he made his major league debut in May of 2015, with no end in sight.
Off the field, Lance gets into extreme conditioning; known to swing an axe in the backyard, do squats with wife Kara McCullers on his shoulders, and go for a run with their rescued pups. But his efforts don’t stop at the physical; Lance and Kara have become community leaders in the world of animal advocacy as well.
Lance and his wife Kara share a passion for pet rescue, and taking up a new residency in Houston, TX has prompted them to partner with causes like ‘Houston Pets Alive’ to raise awareness and funds for animal adoptions and no-kill sanctuaries. They recognize that with Lance’s success, they have an amazing opportunity to inspire and create second chances for pets and families across the country.
Every pet deserves a home and an opportunity to live a long and healthy life; every family deserves to feel the compassion and love a pet can bring to their household. The Lance McCullers Jr. Foundation will strive to make both of these opportunities a reality.
